Dress Code

Dance education begins with a proper foundation, which includes dressing appropriately for class so teachers can see students’ body positioning and alignment. Elevation Dance Center offers dancewear, tights, and shoes on-site to fulfil your dress code needs.

We request that dancers adhere to the following dress code:

Tiny Dancers

  1. Girls-Any leotard with tights or white ankle socks and pink leather ballet shoes. Dance skirts or leotards with attached skirts are allowed.
  2. Boys-Black or white fitted shirt with black tights, bike shorts, basketball shorts or dance pants, and black leather or canvas ballet shoes.
  3. Hair should be pulled neatly off the face and neck. Ponytails are allowed. Short hair should be held with a thick headband.

Ballet/Tap Combo

  1. Girls-Any leotard with tights or white ankle socks, pink leather ballet shoes and black patent leather tap shoes. Dance skirts or leotards with attached skirts are allowed.
  2. Boys-Black or white fitted shirt with black tights, bike shorts, basketball shorts or dance pants, black leather or canvas ballet shoes and black tap shoes.
  3. Hair should be pulled neatly off the face and neck. Ponytails are allowed. Short hair should be held with a thick headband.

Acro

  1. Girls-Any leotard with pink, tan, or black convertible, footless, or stirrup tights, or bare feet. Fitted shorts may be worn. Must be able to be barefoot.
  2. Boys-Any solid color fitted or EDC shirt with black convertible, footless, or stirrup tights, bike shorts, basketball shorts or dance pants. Boys dance belt. Must be able to be barefoot.
  3. Hair should be pulled neatly off the face and neck. Ponytails are allowed. Short hair should be held with a thick headband.

Ballet

  1. Girls-Any leotard with pink, tan, or black tights, and pink leather or canvas ballet shoes. Dance skirts are not allowed.
  2. Boys-Black or white fitted shirt with black tights, bike shorts, or dance pants, and black leather or canvas ballet shoes. Boys dance belt.
  3. Hair should be pulled neatly off the face and neck and pulled into a bun, french braid, or french twist. Short hair should be held with a thick headband.

Jazz/Lyrical/Contemporary/Tap

  1. Girls-Any leotard with pink, tan, or black tights, and black or tan jazz shoes, or black tap shoes. Shorts or fitted dancewear may be worn, but teacher must be able to see knees and body alignment.
  2. Boys-Any solid color fitted or EDC shirt with black tights, bike shorts, basketball shorts or dance pants, and black or tan jazz shoes, or black tap shoes. Boys dance belt.
  3. Hair should be pulled neatly off the face and neck. Ponytails are allowed. Short hair should be held with a thick headband.

Hip Hop

  1. Looser fitting clothes may be worn, but dancer must be able to move comfortably. Close toed shoes are required.
  2. Hair should be pulled neatly off the face and neck. Ponytails are allowed. Short hair should be held with a thick headband.
